The Albury-Wodonga campus of Charles Sturt University was designed with sustainability in mind, boasting a range of environmentally sensitive features to minimise the use of heating and cooling.
We were engaged by the university to continue this tradition through the delivery of an essential hydraulics package for the campus’s new student residences and sports facility. On this large-scale project, the Tonkin crew worked in partnership with Joss Constructions.

In 2019/20 the expansive former Bunnings site in Albury underwent extensive redevelopment. Premier Building and Construction engaged Tonkin to carry out the initial phase of landlord works to develop the site into three large commercial tenancies.
Following on from this preliminary stage, we completed each tenancy fit out to suit major tenants PBC (Amart Furniture Retail and Amart Furniture Warehousing) and Watts Build (Harris Farms Markets).
Scope of work
— Site disconnection of all existing services
— Concrete chasing and removal for waste
— Grease trap with pump out provision
— 1,250m of overhead fire services
— 1,080m of potable water
— 980m of natural gas at high level
— Suspended large bore stormwater
— Mechanical carpark extraction system
— Sewer and stormwater pump stations
— Hydraulics service installations
— Fit out retail and warehouse amenities
In 2019, Tonkin was engaged by Joss Group for the construction of a new 18 residence apartment complex in Hovell Street, Albury, for Amelie Housing which provides secure and affordable accommodation for those who are homeless or disadvantaged.
Our crew worked with project managers and local hydraulic consultants to deliver a $400,000 hydraulics package for the ground-up construction of each independent apartment as well as the common facilities.

North East Water provides vital water and sewage services to around 40 towns, keeping urban and rural properties connected.
We were engaged by Zauner Construction to complete the vital hydraulics package for the utility’s new $8.1m regional headquarters project in Wodonga. Our crew worked hand-in-hand with Zauner and North East Water to deliver this comprehensive project on time and on budget.
